-22 degrees!

I just wanted to give a little update, I’ve been getting some worried inquiries to how we’re doing in this cold snap.  It was 22 below when I went out to feed and do chores this morning.  I gave everyone a little extra grain and hay, and refilled their heated buckets with warm water with a little cider vinegar and molasses added for extra energy.  Everyone looks good, and by noontime we were up to a balmy 1 above.

So far, we still have power, the wood stove is stoked and keeping the house warm, pipes are not frozen, so all is well.   I’m loving my heated water buckets, and saying a big thank you every hour to the kind soul who sent them to me last fall, might be the best gift ever!
